Mike Puskas entered emergency services in 2004 by joining the Wantage First Aid Squad at the age of 16. During his time with the Wantage First Aid Squad he served as the lieutenant and then captain of the department. He additionally maintains certifications in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), Counter Narcotics & Terrorism Operational Medical Support (CONTOMS) and Law Enforcement First Responder (LEFR).

Mike worked as a EMT for Saint Clare’s Hospital System from 2010 until 2013. While there he conducted inter-hospital transport and responded to emergencies throughout Morris County. He also worked for Par-Troy Emergency Medical Services for the Township of Parsippany from 2010-2021. While there, he helped to establish the Rescue Task Force and assisted in outfitting and training the entire department.

In 2013, Mike graduated from the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy (MCPSTA) 81st Basic Police Class and was initially hired by the Randolph Police Department. In 2018, Mike transferred to the Hanover Township Police Department and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. With his experiences as an EMT, Mike was added to the department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and also jointly oversees the local Rescue Task Force (RTF). In 2021, Mike became a Field Training Officer (FTO) and energetically trains new police officers. Additionally, he is a graduate of the rigorous Maryland State Police Basic Police Motorcycle Operations course and is an active motor officer. Mike has attended Tactical Officer Survival School levels one and two, a multi-day shooting school for patrol and tactical officers that focuses on pistol and patrol rifle speed and accuracy. Mike is currently establishing a medical director program for the Hanover Township Police Department to oversee training and policies to regulate officers who are also EMTs, as well as oversee the Rescue Task Force (RTF) and tactical medical component for Hanover Township’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Mike graduated from Sussex County Community College with an Associates of Science in Criminal Justice. He then continued his education at Montclair State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Justice Studies.

Mike’s passion for law enforcement and emergency medicine has created a path for instructing. A belief that we are all teachers and all students, drives his instructing methods.
